DUE DATE FOR AUDITION REGISTRATION IS 21 JULY 2010
 

The National School of the Arts caters for learners from Grade 8 to Grade 12, and also offers a Contemporary Music Course. No new learners are accepted for Grade 12. Each year a large number of applicants apply for 150 places and for this reason, auditions and interviews are held to select the candidates.

Please download / print the Audition Requirements and all further information detailed under the heading Auditions. NO EMAILED OR FAXED FORMS WILL BE ACCEPTED.
 
Please note that to offset administration costs, a NON-REFUNDABLE audition fee of R50-00 is levied for all applicants, even if they fail to attend the audition or cancel it. Cheques or postal orders made out to 'The National School of the Arts' must accompany your Audition Registration Form.
 
School fees for 2010 are:- Grades 8 - 12: R13 800-00 for the year. For those requiring Hostel, in addition to School Fees, the Hostel fees are:- Weekly boarders: R13 600-00 for the year. Termly boarders: R17 800-00 for the year. The fee for the Contemporary Music Course is R21 200-00 for the year. The NSA does not offer bursaries. Exemptions are granted based on gross annual salary and if the salary is very low. This does NOT apply to Contemporary Music learners. Parents who struggle financially must seek assistance through employers or financial institutions. All fees are subject to an increase in 2011.

Each audition registration form must be fully completed and signed at the bottom of the form and have with it a copy of a full birth certificate (unabridged) or identity document, the latest (current year) school report, two (2) recent passport or identity document size photos (not school photos) and the R50-00 audition fee. Immigrants must also submit all the relevant permits.
