Art, Dance, Drama and Music are the four
gates of admission to this prestigious full-time high school
on the ridge in Braamfontein, South Africa, with its back to
inner Johannesburg and facing warmth and space to the north.
Learners from all areas of Southern Africa commute daily or
board in superior hostels (one learner per room) and attend
classes in both their academic and artistic spheres of
interest.
The Department of Education has recognised The National
School of the Arts as a School of Excellence in Art &
Performing Arts Education. This distinction favourably
impacts on the educator learner ratio. To enhance the
Performing and Visual Arts Departments the Governing Body
employs numerous educators specialising in Art, Dance, Drama
and Music.
The National School of the Arts is a historically and
culturally rich high school that was born out of the
amalgamation of The Johannesburg Art, Ballet, Drama and
Music School and Hoƫrskool Die Kruin which were opened in
1969.
