The
Contemporary Music Department was established in January
1997.
The Department specialises in allowing learners to achieve a
Music NQF Level 4 certificate - the
Music Industry
Practice Certificate. The course is taken over a three year
period and learners must have completed Grade 9 (Std 7) to
enter the course.
The MIP course specialises in Vocals, Guitar,
Piano/Keyboard, Bass Guitar, Drums and Saxophone.
There is also an option of studying a
second instrument.
Great
emphasis is placed on the art of performance. In each
academic year learners are exposed to at least 5 live
performances.
The Contemporary Music Department is staffed by working,
professional musicians, each a specialist in their field.
