The Art Department is the largest Secondary School Art Department in Gauteng. The high level of success achieved by the Art learners of the NSA over the last 28 years in national competitions, external examinations and exhibitions bears witness to the outstanding tuition provided by committed and talented teachers who are specialists in their field.

The NSA is proud of its studios, workshops and the excellent Art Gallery where the learners' works are exhibited regularly. The Art gallery is also used for exhibitions by local and overseas artists.

In the senior school learners can choose a practical component from Photography, Sculpture, Painting, Design, Ceramics, Printmaking, Jewellery Design and Manufacture, Glass Craft, and Computer Graphics.
